I had way to much LP bills last winter heating my 4,800 head wean to finish site last winter. Was wondering what everyone else did to try to save heat and not go broke buying LP. It’s a two 2,400 head 6 year old Iowa Select site. I would like to hear what you all do to conserve heat. What has worked and what hasn’t. Thanks

There is a big reason why guys built nurseries. From a capital perspective, it makes zero sense to use a finisher for the nursery phase. From a heating perspective it makes zero sense to heat an entire building for pigs that use 1/4 of the space.

From a labor perspective the wean to finish is the only thing that makes sense about it.

Tighten inlets, wrap fans you aremt using, bubblewrap the curtain/s, lower minimum vent unless humidity gets too high, thats all you can do....a wean to finish barn is a money pit in the winter.
spot on with your comments!!
