I think you are right to be cautious about ARG. I have seen it volunteer for several years now in a field where I let it go to seed. That's only happened where I planted it as a forage crop in the spring so far. I don't see enough risk to avoid using it though. I didn't have any in my wheat this year in a field that had it volunteer a few years prior. So far no issues with it going to seed and becoming a problem where I have interseeded it in corn like the pictures I posted above.
In my interseeding, soybeans or mixed perennial forage with oats/peas as a nurse crop is my next crop. A little volunteer ARG is not a concern in either case.
