I will comment on the wires wearing out quickly.

I have had wires in the factory feeder chain for our Lexion for many many hours, and the wires remained good. One thing I will attribute that to is because the wires are bent into a Z pattern. What this does is prevent the wires from rotating. If done properly, the wire will not rotate at all once installed and bent on each end.

In other words, if one end is installed and then bent up, bend the other end down. Rotation will not occur because either end of the wire can't rotate into the connecting link. If both ends are bent the same direction, the wire can rotate 180 degrees, back and forth all day long. I bend the leading end to best prevent crop snagging, the trailing end is the opposite.
