I'm now six weeks past my replacement, and am finally getting a little strength back.  It takes at least six months to get even close to normal.  If you need a replacement, best to get it done.  Waiting will only make it worse.  Your spring is already going to be a challenge, so get it done so you are in good shape by next fall.
