Not blaming anyone for weather damaged beans. They are the ones that said they are receiving not many damaged beans but they have heard the stories coming from the fields and they weren't gonna accept anything over 5% damaged. But they are in the business to buy beans.
They are in the business of buying GOOD beans. They have standards to meet with the products they sell (if they are the same Bunge as we have up here). The soymeal has to meet standards or the possibility of bad product loss of sales or even lawsuits if the meal does harm to animals.
Same goes with the soy oil they produce.
So yes they have the right to protect themselves by rejecting loads of bad beans.
We have the same problem in corn this year again with high vomitoxin levels. Feed mills have their cut off limits so they don't harm animals.
Ethanol plants have limits because the distillers grain gets sold to dairy, poultry and hog farmers directly and to feed mills.
