10% loss on badly lodged corn is not out of the question at all.  If the stalk breaks off below the ear it is hard to get the ear in the corn head.

Few years back we had badly lodged corn from several wind storms that came through about this time of year.   You could literally walk anywhere across those fields stepping on ears of corn, never stepping on the ground.  The amount of volunteer corn the following year was staggering.

The stalk quality this year is bad and an awful lot of it is gonna be out in the field for way too long.
