Wow, no answers, but a couple questions.

Can you access your private email service through a web browser and are the emails still present there? Properly set up, Outlook will maintain duplicates of the emails that are on the email server. Creating, moving and deleting messages should result in both the on-line and local email stores being kept in sync.

Go to File/Info/Account Settings/Account Settings. A box should pop up. With the Email tab selected, then make sure your email account is selected. Does the Repair choice become enabled?

If your emails are still available on-line, you do have the option to delete your Outlook account from this window. Then start over and create a new account in Outlook. I've done this before and it's not a big deal. You need to know a few basic details such as your provider's email server information and the account and password information.
