NC Kansas | I will echo the, don't remove the cows thing, remove the calves instead and they have to be a long ways away. If they can hear each other bawling that's all it takes. We've done a little fenceline weaning on small groups the last few years and I kinda like that best. Our trouble is we don't really have the facilities to do that with the whole herd at once.
Our normal practice is to pull calves and go straight to the sale barn. Leave cows where they were, couple days a bawling and then turn them back out if you like. | |
