Things may be different now, but I know at one time they'd sell you a trailer "as is"- you could drag it home and weld anything onto it you wanted to. Has that changed? Very well could have, I haven't bought a dump in a while now. Last one I bought came from Rob and Troy.
Something else, and this may or may not be factual at all anymore- but at one time there were a handful of Michigan dealers that seemed to get first shot at the nicest trailers coming off service down south, then whatever was left was offered to the general public. If someone is buying multiple trailers regularly, they obviously get a better deal. Whether they pass any savings on is a different story. And, probably with enough scouting around, you could find a nice trailer as well.
