The gimbal clamp incident shouldn't be a problem (usually the app scolds you) unless it was left running like that for an extended period. If you are lucky the plastic plate thing will have got the wrong side of its mounting. There are little tabs which bounce around on springy rubber and in a minor crash or bump in transport the tab can get below where it should be.
If it's not that the ribbon cable you can see behind the camera might have some wear and minor damage. This is inexpensive to buy but fiddly to fit unless you are used to dealing with tiny parts where you might need tweezers (and good eyes!) Youtube has instructional videos on replacing the cable or complete camera assembly. Could be sent for repairs but often it's borderline economic if you have to do that.
