Subject: RE: No-till drills

Leesburg, Ohio
Have had Great Plains and several different Deere no-till drills. Deere 750/1560/1590 is hands down the only no-till drill I would ever consider. They will go in the ground in about any condition. All the others with double-disc openers...not so much.

And I do not agree that having a drill that "lowers the boxes" with the openers has any advantage at all. No way. What matters is weight per blade to the ground, and the Deere will put more weight on each blade, regardless of ground level, than any drill on the market that I am familiar with. The Deere will transfer the entire weight of the drill to the blades, and lift the tires off the ground if need be, with hydraulic force and huge springs. The double disc openers have little wimpy springs holding the openers down, that are not capable of nearly as much weight transfer. Just look at the two drills and the specs, and it is obvious.
