I don't think the price of that container of milk has anything to do with the price of milk that the dairy farmer is getting. You don't say what the container size of that milk is. So, I will toss out a couple of "for examples".... If that is an 8- ounce container of milk, that price would translate to $186.08 / cwt (hundredweight) If that is a 12-ounce container of milk, that price would translate to $124.05/ cwt If that is a 16-ounce container of milk, that price would translate to $93.04/cwt So, how much of that is the dairy farmer getting? Around $15-16/ cwt. The middleman is getting the rest. What I hear is the coops and processors are doing very well these days. |
