Sometimes with good growing conditions some hybrids will grow a sucker that just grow with the stalk. Most times they won't put on a ear and don't hurt anything.


This is accurate.

A few years ago I had a number do this really bad. It looked bad and I was worried it would effect yield. That variety ended up being my highest yield that year... by a fair margin as well.
