Here's a snippet from CNN: "The Chinese Commerce Ministry announced Thursday that a delegation will travel to the United States later this month for talks. The visit is at the invitation of the United States, the ministry said in a short statement."
Notice that they say "at the invitation of the US". Whether the US did, in fact, invite the Chinese is significant because it indicates who wanted to talk first. They might be just saying that but they also said in the article, "The officials leading the new talks are less senior than in previous rounds" & "The case for China being "willing to give enough concessions that the US government backs down is not convincing," Louis Kuijs, head of Asia economics at research firm Oxford Economics."
But you will have lots of time up there in North Dakota figuring out whether the recent collapse in soybean prices were seasonal or tariff related.
By the way, as the crow flies, my farm is 1300 miles closer to Europe than you are and by way of the Mississippi, 3200 miles closer. and this time it seems to be working out for us here. Two weeks ago, beans were flying off the shelf when beans where $9.00 at zero basis or better. You see, we're a short 200 mile train ride to the Port of New Jersey and in the past we've even sent beans by truck to Quebec to meet a "Salty" in order to top it off after it got thru the shallower part of the Seaway where the water gets deeper before it headed out in to the Atlantic.
