Subject: Grazing Mature Standing Wheat

Kansas
I had a little test plot of about 8 acres at my house where I grew some wheat and spread crabgrass on it to graze my fall calves till this fall. Between the weather and combines breaking down we were late to getting it out of the field. Some of it is layed over and the grass is coming thru it already. I could spray rup on it and harvest but will kill all my grazing. I was curious if I will have issues just turning my calves in there with the wheat standing or should I bush hog it. Most of the field has turned green. We tired to harvest it but the combines we tired with would not clean it. Have no real experience in grazing wheat. Probably 50 bu wheat at least sitting out there. If it was a bigger field I'd just burn it down and harvest.
