We have an Easy Way oiler. Never had or heard anything wrong with diesel, but all we use is kerosene. No difference I can tell.

Easy Way recommends either kerosene or #1 diesel because supposedly #2 diesel fuel will plug up the wicks they use. I've only ever used diesel in mine, but always save some of my winter blend to use which is 50/50 blend of #1 and #2 fuel. I replaced wicks for the first time on one after 5? years of use this year an by the look of them I was probably overdue. Not sure if kerosene would have made them last longer or not. I've never seen the fuel irritate them at all. If you're spraying oil on them I could see using kerosene as better because I know from experience that diesel fuel in the eye burns, not sure I've ever had kerosene in the eye to judge if it's much better though :)
