Granville County, NC | I tilled up a small field that I have and sowed Johnsongrass, which I know many don't like...but it works pretty well here. Anyway, the Jgrass didn't germ and the field was pretty weedy. I put some cows in there to clean it up a little so I could sow some Sorghum Sudan. Was checking it yesterday and it has a very strong crabgrass stand. I have other pastures that I have in RedRiver Crabgrass and Quick and Big Crabgrass. The cows love that stuff. Anyway, it seems that the crabgrass that I can get just by tilling and letting set grows just about the same as the purchased varieties. It comes in thick and grows pretty tall. I am gonna try another small patch of a few acres and disc it up and see what kinda crabgrass growth I can get. Does anyone else notice that their local crabgrass produces as well as the purchased seed?? | |
