Yes we straight cut some of our canola. The heavier the stand, the better it works as the thicker stands shatter less. We have a cross auger on our header which keeps the crop flowing. We windrowed and straight cut on the same field this year and to our surprise we gained 2 bushels per acre where we staight cut. We had some very strong winds after the windrows were picked up and there was very noticeable shatter in the standing crop, but the seeds were larger and almost 0 green count. Patience is a prerequisite as it adds at least 10 days over windrowing.
