North Dakota | Current production oil filters for most diesel engines have a filter media that is glass based and filters everything over a certain size particle. The old paper elements would plug the larger holes in the media with dirt so it could filter finer particles as the filter became more plugged. You can still get the older paper filters, they are usually the less expensive version.
Filter media has changed so much over the last 50 years, even in the last 10 that the old way of thinking no longer holds true. | |
