Subject: RE: stx325 vs mt765 (A)

We had an STX325 on a planter and grain cart and in 2011 switched to a 765C and couldn't be happier.  It has been 7 years, so my memory is a bit fuzzy, but one of the things I didn't like about the STX was that you can't see the drawbar when hooking up.  After the PTO went out and issues others have had with the CAPS fuel system (maybe overblown?) I did not trust it mechanically.  We did miss the visibility sitting up high when running the grain cart.  We still have a 9180 with triples turned up to 400HP and a 9130, and the 765C will almost keep up with the 9180, so I would guess it would be close to a stock 9170 with duals.  It has 25" tracks and that helps with traction, flotation and has less berming when turning vs the narrower 18" tracks.

Edit to add:  I have never ran a 9170, but our 765C (rated at 325 HP) easily pulls better than the STX 325 we had.  We have had it on our 43' JD1895/430 bu 1910 (not full), a 41' chisel plow, 40' VT disk, and 50' cultivator.  It is bit small at times for those tools in our soil types and hills, but it works fine when needed.  I think it pulls with 360-375 HP 4WD's.
