I have the original sales literature at home for that model, I'll try to remember to look it up this evening. I would think a Kohler Command gas engine would be a much easier and cheaper replacement. Is that Continental air cooled?

A new small diesel would be $5k, at least according to this:

Why do you want to know about the original Isuzu? Do you think you could find one if you knew the model number? They put them in forklifts and other small industrial machines back in the day, so I suppose they are out there in enough quantity to find a good one.
