Boron applied at sidedress time is still in time for reproductive stages when its most crucial for the corn plant IMO. That's a good method, but I'd also want some on for seedling stage since B uptake is a problem when temps are unusually cool and soils wet, and because adequate B is important for root growth. Indeed, B is important at all stages of growth, since it's a component of cell walls. Low B = slow growth, reduced rooting, shortened internodes & smaller leaves. |
