Lancaster, OH
Helena has owned the name Hi Stick for many years. It is a proprietary formulation of peat containing rhizobia and Bacillus subtillus, the primary ingredients in Vault HP less nodulation enhancer.

It is a sterile peat which puts it in the category of N-Charge S and Vault SP. Sterile peats have 10-15x the rhizobia being applied to a seed of non-sterile peat products which are the cheapest of the peats. Sterile peats and sterile liquids that are designed for planting the day of application apply similar levels of rhizobia. These products generally do not have some of the more advanced performance enhancements of some of the pre-inoculants.

I would be very surprised if BASF is still not the manufacturer.

The applicator you show is one, I believe that came from Becker Underwood's purchase of a company out of the UK. These applicators as well as the one available from Changing Times are an absolute must for using these types of products when planting with a planter rather than a drill. The provide much better distribution and minimize the covering of the monitor eyes that disrupt the reading of seed drop.
