Subject: RE: WAAS Changes?

Centre county Pennsylvania, USA

Not sure if current version EZGuides will have capability to use 2 additional WAAS correction satellites, that's a question for Trimble or Trimble dealer.

Here is link to FAA advisory that shows coverage area for the 2 new WAAS correction satellites and coverage area for current WAAS correction satellite (Inmarsat GEO satellite) before and after it was moved. Click on "Information for Pilots":

http://gps.faa.gov/programs/waasnews.htm

Currently our EZGuide plus is using the Inmarsat GEO satellite which has been moved to 142 degrees west but is still visible to almost all US and Canadian users. Here in the east it now appears lower on the horizon and to our southwest instead of southeast. We have used EZGuide plus for topdressing wheat after Inmarsat GEO satellite was moved to 142 degrees west and saw no degradation in WAAS performance. As evident in the FAA advisory, only the PanAmSat GEO satellite at 133 degrees west will provide new WAAS correction coverage for folks in the US corn belt. That coverage is only slightly better than is now being provided by the Inmarsat GEO satellite, but it is backup coverage should the Inmarsat GEO satellite fail.
