What's your serial number? What model of truck is it in ? What year is the truck? Does the coolant temperature come up to 190 degrees F ? Or is your engine overcooling itself and causing condesation? There are "serial number specific" items to look for in this complaint. 2007 engines and newer, CAT has come out with updated OCV(open crankcase ventilation) filter cans and drain lines, and that service letter will come out in January 2009(last I heard). It sounds like a "condesation problem" more than a "loss of coolant problem". Also, you have just hit COLD weather, one can get condensation from the hot turbocharged air, then it goes thru the air-to-air aftercooler, and cools, then condenses=water droplets, can enter the engine that way. Some of this can't be prevented. C13 engines is where it shows up the most. It really might be an overcooling issue, I believe there was a reroute of the coolant vent hose(from cylinder head to radiator top tank) on some serial numbers, too. [That was an OEM problem=how they built the truck] Year, truck model, engine serial number will help. EDIT Question: Is your trucks fan operating correctly? Is it spinning/running more than it should and cooling the external engine metal and the engine can't maintain heat as it normally should?
