I love synthetic oil. Started using it in a Pontiac bonneville at 20000 miles, changed oil every 10000, has 250000 on it now, longer drives, but drove hard, still doesn't use any oil. It was kind of a experiment , don't recommend it as I like to change oil before mfg recommendations. I think now most cars mfg recommend some type or mix of synthetic. We always change tractors and combines at 150 hrs. Leased a new cat tractor and their service dept said first change should be at 450 hrs. We went to around 250 as book said and changed it because I didn't want to be liable for a engine failure. It was one thing to experiment with a car ,quite another on a semi or tractor.
I remember a serviceman from a local dealer telling me that a customer would always trade cars around 20000 miles with org mfg paint on filter, how would you like to buy that low mile used car?

Some of the new JD tractors have a 750 engine oil service interval. What do you think of that?? LOL.
