I did the math with a pile guy a while back.

The pile would be very long, thin and short of feed off fast enough to keep fresh for consumption rate (which shouldn't be far off from your).

If I was in your situation, I would go with bags. Make a gravel pad and buy a used bagger. We can put up feed with 2 people bagging (chopping/unloading), and I haven't figured out how to do that with a pile. The cost per ton stored isn't bad, and its flexible regarding how much we put up per year.

Our concrete silos are almost spent, should knock them down soon. Once you build them (and they are pricey these days) you are stuck with them.
