Yes this is about a third redundancy in backing up.

Usually back up to a external hard drive regularly, and clone desktop drive as well.

Just makes it nice to stick in a pocket to share pics and such (won't use any cloud based stuff) or to transfer some pics to laptop for sharing with others.
