Some more info like which operating system might help.
Not sure what that software was supposed to do, but eventually a lot of the importing tools seem to go goofy.
The simplest way is to do it manually by opening the camera like a drive and copy/paste into a folder on the PC
Ideally make a new folder for each batch or it gets unmanageable and hard to find things - if not doing many you could name folders by month.

If the camera can't be seen by the computer it is usually a driver issue.
A simple way to get round this is take the card out of it and use a USB card reader if the computer doesn't have one built in.

There is a chance the camera card has somehow got an executable ( .exe) file on it which is being seen as hostile.
The best way to avoid odd things appearing on your camera storage is to routinely format the card in the camera (from camera menu) after downloading what you need.
This will erase everything and helps it record faster too.

If the camera storage has something important on it now you might see what happens if you connect with a different card in it.
One last thing worth trying is an alternative USB lead, they aren't usually camera specific unless the moulded part is unusual, but some are not able to transfer data, or one of the connections might be failing inside it.
