Central, IA
The 2500 receiver is the same thing as an outback 320. There has been deals on those if you are at the right place at the right time.

The 2500 was a good receiver, but where I struggled with it was that I could only use it for tiling or with an ontrac. I sold mine when the 6500's came out. The 6500 is much more versatile, as I can use it on the plow, for steering a tractor and for as a base. I realize it's a lot more money.

RTK paradyme's are getting cheap and I've had excellent luck with them. You could use a paradyme or 6500 with the 2500 base if you added an external radio. However, if you added $1000 to the radio you'd have your own base.

If your goal is just to make tile designs, I do 100% of my design work in SMS using lidar data to create the layout. Once I'm in the field, I survey each run as I lay them. It's worked well for the last million feet.
