The explanation that went with my first quote of the day didn't make the trip. I don't know why. After reading the comments I have revamped the explanation and am taking another shot at it. Here goes: 1. I want to maximize my soils potential. 2. I want to minimize, and preferably eliminate, soil and nutrient loss. 3. I want to maximize profit. 4. I think living organisms in my soil, that includes roots and microbials and invertibrates, as much as possible is the way to achieve those goals. 5. I think the tillage I do and the year around use of herbicides to control weeds reduces those organisms. 6. I think anything I can do to reduce the use of the above mentioned is beneficial as long as it doesn't reduce profit. 7. I am willing to change to meet my first three goals. Doing things as I've always done them doesn't work. 8. How can I get there? 9. Those unwilling to consider change need not reply. Flame me one more time |
