I’m in south central Pa and most my farms sit at the head of the Chesapeake Bay. Most farms around here no till. Even the Amish have no till planters. The most tillage you see in our area is some sub soiling and a little bit of vertical tillage to chop residue. The last 4 years we went pretty aggressive with the cover crops as well. We mostly plant rye mixed with radish and crimson clover.
We can grow 200+ bps corn and 75 bpa beans.
Keys to no tilling
1. Planter set up. We run a frame mount Coulter’s, with Yetter row cleaners. We usually run liquid starter and have banned some liquid nitrogen at closing wheels as well. Make sure planter can deal with cover crops.
2. Cover crops. Let these crops do the dirty work for you. They will help choke out the weed while feeding the organism in the soil and also help break up compaction. We really increase once we always had living roots in the soil all year long.
3. Give it time

I could go on for days. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
