North of London | I noticed the post below about Pearl Harbour and I thought of posting this yesterday on the 100th anniversary of the largest man made explosion before the atomic bomb.
Canada had been at war, WWI, for many years and a munitions ship was in collision in the Halifax Harbour and left burning until it exploded.
Killed thousands in Halifax on Dec 6th 1917.
Devasted the city and left many more survivors injured and homeless in winter with a snowstorm right after the explosion.
Medical help came from the US and I believe one good thing coming out of it was what some doctors learned about injuries to eyes and took back to a school or facility in the US and improved health care to do with eye injuries.
that from memory so not sure of details | |
