| 527 has smaller shanks on 27" spacings. IIRC, 7" sweep is as wide as you can go. 530 has heavier shank on 30" spacing & can go up to 10" sweeps. Our first disc ripper was a 527, pulled it with a strong 7240mfd, was all the tractors wa ted. Later pulled it withna CIH 9230. Could put the ripper in all the way. Later traded the 527 for a 530B, actually had two 530Bs at the time, which we pulled with the 9230 & a 9282 Versatile. Both tractors were set at 300hp and made pretty good matches for the 530s. Most of our soils are heavier black soils, Sable & Ipava loams. You're 285 would probably get along ok with the 530, biggest issue will be traction IMO. 527 will also leave the ground smoother. | |
