"Availability of Organic Nitrogen - Not all of the nitrogen in a manure application is available for crop uptake in the first year. The report of analysis lists a result for Total Nitrogen, which represents the Organic Nitrogen plus the Ammonium Nitrogen. The First Year Available Nitrogen is also reported. This value is calculated by multiplying the Organic-N by the corresponding organic nitrogen availability factor (Table 3) and adding the NH4-N to that result. The NH4-N value is obtained from a reference source when the analysis is not requested. When NH4-N is requested, values for Total N, Organic N and NH4-N are reported, as well as First Year Available Nitrogen."
