If you have a laptop, might it be "going to sleep during the download and updating process?"

Isnt there an option to keep your files and apps when you install it? Worth looking into.
My brothers laptop went to sleep during the last big win 10 update and we had a hard time getting it going again. When we did get it going, I went into I believe, power settings, and set it to "never" go to sleep or auto shutdown when plugged in,. That seems to fix the problems when the computer is unattended during a long download / update.
