He would need at least 15-20 plots set up like this to get any reliable data on these hybrids, a "check" included would be somewhat useful but barely. Basically a waste of time to try and convince anyone the value of replication and statistics on this site.... Scratch that. Utter waste of time. Guys still argue that it's not shelling corn but combining corn. How can one enter a deeper conversation with that mindset? And I'm no genius but I try to learn something new every day.[/



I beg to differ; we put 20-25 varieties in every year with a check in between every 3-4, take the top 4-5 and try them the next year with 24 row planter with 12&12 with our best corn from last year or years, then combine 12 rows with precision yield monitor collecting data over whole fields. Then it gets down to who will give us the best price on seed with net profit being king. My brother and I have done well this way.

So please explain to this dumb plowboy from Camp Douglas why we need 15-20 plots or it's a Utter waste of time, make sure to explain at 3rd grade level.
