Only thing Windstream is spending locally is to upgrade service in local town to 100MBS service to compete with Spectrum cable to avoid losing customers to them. Rural residents with DSL cannot get even a fraction of bandwidth we are paying for and are being told no improvements are on the way anytime soon. Just keep gouging the customers as there is really no other option. Satellite and wireless are more expensive and have data caps as well. 3rd world countries have faster and more reliable internet than much of rural America. Local school has Chrome books for kids now and many have to go to town library to use them every day after school to complete assignments as internet speed at home is insufficient to get anything done. Windstream is the worst DSL provider in the country according to all the complaints and reports of lousy speeds I have read and it has been ongoing for years now. Forget streaming, or YouTube or much of the web anywhere between 3 pm and about midnight. Sites like Ag Talk and others that are mostly text are even slower /less responsive during these times. Speeds are much better from about 2 am to 5 am. |
