E. Kansas | I've had all kinds of zippers ruined if I caught a jacket on something and some of the zipper teeth tore out. Could only zip it up to that point, otherwise it would separate. Very annoying.
My mom used to fix ruined zippers on work jackets by sewing a new zipper to the back of the old one. There is usually plenty of room to run the stitches along the old zipper and not have to tear it out. Doesn't take long to do and if done right, it's just as durable. If that zipper gets ruined, it's easy to remove and replace. I don't like tossing a decent work jacket just because of a bad zipper.
