If it doesn't eat out the pivot, it shouldn't be hurting the well pipe either. Do you have a meter on the well to know how many GPM you're pumping? I wouldn't personally mess with the well if it's working good. What kind of column does the pump set on? Bolted or threaded? Is it line-shaft or submersible? I'd be a little more concerned with threaded column, but they all can rot out. Also, FWIW, my grandfather drilled water wells for more than 30 years. He drilled and developed several 16" irrigation wells that pump 2500+ GPM. Chances are you're never going to have a pump as trouble free as this one ever again.
