Now you have me wondering about the compost I spread this fall on alfalfa that was sprayed out. Going to corn next spring and was planning to notill. I applied 10 tons/acre. The test results are 17.3 lbs total n with 16.9 of that being organic n. Carbon/nitrogen ration of 10.1. Yeild goal is 300 bu so I will have to apply more N but it sure would be nice to have an idea of how much if the N from the compost is available if left on the surface.
