I had ground like that, except for the low K. However, I bought it so I could work with the landlord ***

I'll agree that it's not worth bothering with in a short-term, highest bidder cash rent scenario. If the landlord won't work with you on lime and give you a longer term contract I'd let it go unless the current rent is low enough to reflect the condition of the ground.


That said, in my case, I had pH as low as 4.5 that didn't seem to affect the corn crop much. Not like it did the bean crop. I don't think pell lime is worth it if the ground is going to corn next. Three ton of aglime will do just as much in the short term as 300 lbs of pell lime if it's spread decently. (There ought to be more than 100 lbs of fines per ton of aglime) And if the aglime is spread this fall, then it will be ready for the 2019 bean crop.


After lime you need P and K, and by the time you get them on I suspect you'll be out of input budget.
