EC Nebraska | UNL did a study a few years ago where they spread the lime, then took soil samples every two inches deep. I believe the second year after application tillage made a difference. (in other words, the pH was higher deeper where they worked it in vs where it was not worked in) By the third year, the difference was gone.
Different state, different soils, but that's what happened here. I don't recall the exact soil type, but it was upland ground so probably some kind of silt loam. Probably not much sand, but not as tight as a clay might be.
