Subject: RE: Half Ton Pickups pulling campers

East Central Nebraska
Had a half ton in front of my 30 ft bumper pull camper. I was tired when I got to the camping spot. Had good set sway bars on it and that was a must. Bought 3/4 ton diesel and night and day difference. Set the cruise and go. With the half ton 5.3L motor in a chevy, them poor squirrels up a hill would really be peddling. Most of the time, I didn't like to rev the heck of the engine, so I'd be done to 45 or 50 depending on the hill. Now it rarely shifts. And get to the safety aspect, I feel much better with the stopping power and in the wind, it still much better with a heavy truck in front of it. I don't run sway bars any more, but should try it. I put radial tires on the camper replacing the bias ply ones but bias ply seemed to follow a little better.
