| It's all management. Can be as good or as bad as you manage it. Look at a dairy. Those milking cows have a lot harder job than a feeder and they never leave cement all their adult life in most cases these days. I realize the life of a dairy cow in a big dairy is less years than it used to be it's still a lot longer than a feeder should be on feed. As said above on a bed pack can live as long as you want them too. Slats have a lot more issues due to stocking rate and being slippery and no soft place to lay down. Rubber is helping that now some.
