Subject: RE: Where does USDA get final (January) yield data from?

Minneota, MN
Well, none of them, except the USDA, has my extremely detailed, real time planting, spraying, harvesting (varieties, population, etc), and tillage data. And the USDA only has my crop acres and planting dates, and farm yield. They have no clue what varieties I planted, what fertilizing program I used, what varieties did well or poor on various soil types, what herbicide program I used, and on and on.

Give your data away (and pay for giving it away), but don't complain when these companies jack your price up because you had a good year (or jack your price up because you should have had a good year according to your neighbors' data)!

And they wont just jack your price up, they will jack it up enough so that your profit margin is almost nothing (even in good times). And now how great are these companies that SELL you inputs and provide this wonderful real-time-info-gathering service???
