You might try talking to John Beane at Nodaway Valley Equipment in Villisca Iowa. 712-566-1034. Their shop actually splits the tractor and swaps out your transmission or something and puts in the shiftable PTO part. i am no mechanic - just what John told me about a tractor over the phone that went to ND over a year ago.

It's not that complicated, you can change all the parts from the outside. You just have to be sure to have all the parts, or have two tractors and swap the parts between the two.
