NW Iowa | We run Cobra 29's and Firesticks (adjustable) on most everything. I have a short (2 or 3 ft) steel antenna on the NMO mount on the combine (9760). Works ok, I think that it needs to be a little longer, but then we run into issues with it being too tall. And same here, have a Maurer extension on it.
When we had 9500's, we mounted a firestick to the front cab handles and worked great.
The biggest thing is to make sure that all of the radios are TUNED.
With a properly tuned radio, I can easily talk 3-4 miles. And this isn't flat ground either. | |
