Subject: Cover crop logic from NRCS

Southeast WI
Maybe I'm just really dumb so I need some enlightening.

Talked to a client yesterday. He's been told by nrcs that to get a csp payment or enhancement (whatever) he needs more diversity in his cover crops. Specifically after corn or soybeans. This is southern wi. Our choices are...... Cereal Rye. In order to qualify they suggest 39 lbs of cereal rye and 22 lbs of Triticale. Voila. We are diversified. Problem solved.

This isn't the first time I've heard this. Now I have heard what the mix should be. My technical response to this pure genius was "huh?". What am I missing?
