We just added a 12' X 32' deck to our home this summer. Wife wanted a shaded portion to sit in for mornings and evenings when the sun was out. We bought a 10' X 12' all metal gazebo and anchored it on the deck. Left 2' of clearance on the side adjacent to the house so could get to the interior if the bug screens were drawn.

So far we really enjoy it. We did add a crank up sun shade on the west end of the gazebo to block the evening sun from getting directly on us.

The photo is the design of what we bought. They are available in different sized that you can chose for your particular needs.

Just something to think about rather than just an awning.

that is something i want to consider. might work better than an awning for up, as we went with a zero entry on deck from the patio door. only 7.5' to overhang on house then.

i just seen that in the menards sale ad for $899.

i assume there is a good way to anchor to the deck. we used ultra deck composite decking from menards. are screens and shades optional or included?
